Need a Sonnax Bypass valve?

I ordered my Baumann kit this morning for my 4R70W Trans..
Gregg called back & said they were out of the bypass valve.
Here is a place I was able to order it if you need 1.
WIT Trans. 502-955-6035
I think they have 7 more in sock.
They are in KY..
Kit goes in this weekend.. : ) (As long as everyone sends the parts on time)
B&M Trans pan too..

Thumbs up shift kit and bypass valve

Joe T

I had my Bauman shift kit and bypass valve installed about 3 weeks ago, i had it set on stage 4. You will definitly like the way it shifts when your done. The next thing i will be getting is a superchip, it will also help in firming up the shifting even more.

Let us know how it turns out.

Larry.

Joe T:
I installed a Baumann shift kit a while ago and also a B&M trans pan. You may have to shave some of the rear flange off the new pan if you want to be able to get the pan on without removing the trans support cross member. I have the 5.4L so with the smaller engine you may not have any problems. The Baumann kit is easy to install if you take your time and read the directions carefully. I installed mine on level 3 and wish I'd gone with level 4. I guess I'll be pulling the pan off soon!

as for the pan I have read your posts & am prepared to do whatever it takes to get it all done. How did you shave the pan? Dremil?

I will definatly be going stage 4. I have read ALOT of posts on this & it seems the way to go.

Question

Need help guys. Can you tell me what benefits the Sonnax Bypass valve has over the stock one? And is it the same part # for both the 4R70W and 4R100. Thanks.

Bypass Clutch Control Valve for AOD-E / 4R70W Transmissions

This precision replacement valve and orificed sleeve are manufactured by Sonnax utilizing superior construction and materials. These redesigned components help to prevent and eliminate torque converter clutch slip and shudder concerns in AOD-E and 4R70W transmissions. This valve is recommended for any AOD-E or 4R70W transmission that has higher mileage or has experienced torque converter clutch problems.

Catalog Number: BCV-AOD-E

Copied off of Baumann engineering web site.
I hope this explains it : )

Joe T:
I didn't shave my B&M pan. I did it the hard way by removing the cross member. It wasn't that hard really, but I may shave the pan when I remove it to change to level 4. I'd use a 4" grinder with an 80-grit sanding disk and flat file to do the job. The pan is aluminum so fairly easy to work with. In my case I'd probably need to remove an 1/8" to 3/16" of an inch. The other option is to trim a small amount off the cross-member flange. The B&M pan is such a work of art that I'd almost prefer to do the latter.
