Torque converter issue

I just put a new (new to me) transmission in an '01 f150. The tranny came with a torque converter. got everything lined up, the torque converter nuts started, and then tightened up the tranny-engine bolts. Once I tightened up the tranny bolts, I went to turn the crank to rotate the torque converter & tighten down. Only now the crank won't turn. If I back of the tranny bolts, turns fine.

Any ideas would be great. Thanks

Take the trans out. The torque converter isn't fully seated in the transmission. You have to spin the torque converter until it falls in four times. The face of the torque converter needs to be about 1/2" inside the face of the bellhousing.

Don't start the torque converter nuts before the trans is firmly bolted to the engine. This will pull the torque converter off one or more spines in the trans and then you have a BIG problem.

Here's hoping you didn't damage the torque converter or the pump when you tightened the bolts. I've seen both ruined when this happens.
