Intermittent grinding from transfer case - 2002 4x4
2002 F150 4x4 floor shift.
240 000km, have owned the truck since 210 000km with no 4x4 issues at all.
Just recently noticed some brutal sounds coming from the transfer case area. I first noticed this in 2wd every once in a blue moon i would get a POP/GRIND for a split second.. sounded like i ran over a pop can on the road. Started happening every day.. then one day driving slow it happened again but lasted for a couple seconds.
I am noticing it mostly when coming to a stop at slow speeds, but still notice it at speed every so often.. again, at speed the sound is just a POP/GRIND but at slower speeds its a heavy grind.
I tried it in 4wd and it still occured but very less often than in 2wd. I havn't had it in the shop yet but am wondering if anyone has had similar issues.
