2005 Ford F150 with Trans Range Sensor malfunction
Sorry...but this chick needs help for her husband. busy working..
He just installed a used tranny with 36,000 miles in his Auto. 2005 Ford F150 truck 4x4 . It works all but the over drive. PO705 comes up on computer stating Trans range sensor malfunction. I have been reading these are fairly simple to fix. Am I correct? Can a guy with some experience change this himself and how? Finding the sensor is the other issue. Do you know where to get a diagram or picture of it? After affording the tranny we are low on funds a at home fix would be great. thanks!!

The sensor is on the driver's side of the transmission where the shift cable attaches. It's the part with the wiring harness attached.
The sensor is REALLY easy to change. Block the wheels and set the parking brake. Place the shifter in N. Remove the tab that the shift cable attaches to. Remove the wiring harness from the sensor. Remove the two bolts that hold the sensor to the trans, and remove the sensor.
Place the new sensor on the trans and align the alignment marks. Install the two bolts, the wiring harness, and the shifter cable tab. That's it.
The code could also set due to a wiring problem. There may not be anything wrong with the sensor.

Switched sensor with the old one in the bad transmission. We think this one works but...the transfault is still on , but now we have more issues. The o/D works while in park, meaning the light comes on and works fine...until you put it into drive. The ABS light is on all the time as well as the emergency brake light. While they are on the O/D light blinks on and off, we assume it won't kick on due to the sensor lights on constantly with the brakes.( safety issue) We have had several people look and these brakes are NOT on, something is telling the computer they are on and therefor the O/D will not work...we believe is the issue. Are we correct? What could cause these brake senors to be on so we can fix it. My husband thinks the truck was up on ramps with the emergency brake on for a month while fixing and it screwed something up...any suggestions??
Thanks so much!!!!
