tranny swap?

A few years ago I had to get a used tranny for my 2001 supercrew 4.6 2wd. I cant for the life of me remember what vehicle the other tranny came out of, but i know it wasnt a f150. What other trannys could they have put in there other than the 4r70w and how can I check to tell which one is in there.

Thanks

P.S The OE tranny went out 4 days after the extended warranty expired....nice!

For 2wds, Crown Vics used em a lot behind the 4.6's in late 90's, thats one I know for sure.

I think the 4r70ws have like 14 bolts in the pan. 4r100/E4OD had like 18 or 20.

my 4r70w

I think Klitch means a E4OD, not a AODE. The 4R100 replaced the E4OD and the 4R70W replaced the AODE.

Go to the articles and how-tos forum and check the index - there's a transmission information page that will help you.
