This morning got in my truck took of for work. Its bout 13degrees r so. Also I have 325 65 18s now. But my truck was not shiftin out like it normally does. It was ridin in the 2000 range . It only has 86k miles on here any suggestions or thoughts?

 

Drive it further. Once the transmission warms up it will go back to the normal schedule. That's the cold warm up schedule you are seeing.

 

The tranny fluid needs to hit 84-85* in order to hit OD

Mark K I Usually crank and let my truck warm up as i get ready anywhere between 20 to 30 mins. But it is also in park during this. Does that not contribute towards the trans unless the truck is in motion. Also I am just really scared its slipping. And times r really tough and time. Whats a tranny flush normally run avg price.I just hope the tires havent got to it .

 

Just cold shift- like it was said nothing is wrong with the trans it just has a different program until the temps warm up.

 

A complete fluid exchange with a machine generally runs around $150.

 

I dont know what model truck you have but on my 86 aod had that flush done at the local oil change shop and lost the tranny in two months. On tear down the flush had pushed clutch wear material dirt etc into internal valves and screens, starved the 3rd and od clutch pack and melted it. The tech told me unless i have a new truck and do it regularly never ever do a flush like that on an older model since it takes the tranny out without warning almost every time.

 

You do not get a FLUSH - you get a fluid exchange. There's a difference. A fluid exchange is done with the engine running, and it uses the tranny pump to pump the old fluid out and suck the fresh fluid in. The machine goes inline with a cooler line.

 

your trans is fine, it doesn't start to get hot unless you are moving

 

Also consider the torque converter doesn't lockup after a cold start, the cold outside temps could be delaying the warm up longer than normal hence delaying converter lockup until it gets warm enough.
