Hey all,
JMC-I will try to take some pictures of the drivetrain soon.

five0merc-That bronco is awesome. If I had a bronco that nice it would be on road only. The trails I ride are pretty rough and that shiny red sheet metal would not look so hot after a day in the hills.

tarajerame-I did not go with the 6 speed because I read that it has a 26 spline output shaft compared to the 31 spline that my factory transfer case has. I was trying to keep the cost as low as possible.

you should get the F150 lower panel that doesnt have the cut out for the console. The piece at the bottom of your dash.

That is correct. And if you wanna go with the ZF6 it is 02 and newer 5.4 and 6.8, I have mine from a 6.8.

yeah, im having a tought time finding a 4X4 ZF 5 for a decent price. i found a 2WD for $100 with slave cylinder. im really close to getting it then finding the conversion parts. just cant seem to find them yet. also needs a clutch and flywheel, which i cant find a good deal on

AND i cant find the length difference between a 4r70w ad a 4r100 ANYWHERE. i know the zf5 is 3.5" shorter than a 4r100, but i dont know how much longer the 4r100 than the 4r70w is

I got a question, what did you do about the computer. Did you leave or have someone tune it and if you left it how is it working right now with the manual. Because I am thinking about doing this to my 03 f150 supercrew but its my daily driver and I need to make sure it will run after the swap. So I am just curious as to how the stock computer might act. Another thing how about wiring did tranny hook up with any problems.

I am thinking of doing the same thing to my truck(5.4 F150), but have a few questions. I swapped an M5R2 into a 302 explorer once already so I know whats involved in a 5 spd swap, but now my F150 is my project.

- Was the body lift absolutely necessary or did you do it just to fit your tires? Do you have clearance pictures?
- Did your transmission crossmember still bolt up or did you get a cross member from a F150 with an M5R2?
- I assume you had a 4406E transfer case, that just bolted right up because you used a ZF5 and not a ZF6?
Found Answer: Yes, the 4406 bolt pattern matches up to an ZF but the ZF6 has a 24 spline output shaft instead of a 31. So one would need a t-case from a super duty too.
- Do you have any info from the wiring you did? I'm sure you had to short the neutral safety switch to get it to start, did hook up the reverse lights?
- And I assume you had a bunch of check engine lights, did you get a tune from someone to wipe them out or are you just living with them?
- What's the deal with the speedo, is the only VSS in the tranny? I figured it would be in the tcase so it would read right in 4LO?

If you have a sec to answer these questions it would be a great help, thanks!

The body lift is necessary. Or you can reshape the transmission tunnel. The ZF5 and ZF6 are taller than any of the 150 transmissions. If you look in my picture gallery I have a picture of a ZF6 and M5R2 next to eachother.
I don't know why you would have check engine lights with a transmission swap.

These are the only answers I have right now. I will have more once I get finished with my ZF6 swap.

You will have a CEL because the PCM won't be able to find the automatic transmission it's expecting to see.

Think you can take a side & top view pic? I want to see exactly how much taller and wider it is.
Edit: Nevermind I just saw that your are probably deployed by now, thanks anyway though.

You probably wouldn't get any codes swapping manuals, but swapping from an auto to a stick you will most likely give you codes. These are the codes I got when I converted my explorer:
P0708 trans range sensor input
P0713 trans fluid level
P0720 output speed sensor
P0743 torque converter circuit
P0750 Shift Solenoid A
P0755 Shift Solenoid B
P1702 trans system problems
P1746 electronic pressure control solenoid
