Having Some Issues Need Some Professionals

Ok this is my situation,

I have a 2000, F150 V6 XLT Supercab

I bought the truck with a magnaflow exhaust and the way they bent the tube caused my truck to vibrate hard.

So I cut off my exhaust and dumped it after the magnaflow 20-25,000 miles later.

I know that it vibrated the exhaust so much that it might have shook apart the catalytic converter a little because in cold weather start up there is a rattle and after 10-15 min it goes away. It sounds like its coming from there as well.

I haven't replaced the cat yet but I have a hard shift from 1-2 (after it warms up) and I took it to a trans place. I have an extended warranty and they had an adjuster come out. He told the trans guy that it was either a clogged cat or engine problem.

Does this sound right---

Would a clogged cat cause this problem and should I get it replaced.

If I replace it myself and I don't live in California but the car has California certified cat do I need a cali one.

And its not a bolt on cat would I just cut it off and slide the new one in and weld.

A plugged catalyst can cause a hard shift. So can a broken 1-2 accumulator spring and a whole list of other things.

All catalysts are bolt on. You're just not looking far enough forward or rearward. When you buy a new one you will see that it bolts on.

so about the catalytic converter do i have to buy a california one if i live in Nevada

No, you can even save some money and get universal or high flow aftermarket cats. OEM cats are frightfully expensive.
