need trans help 2001 5.4
I have a 2001 supercrew with the 5.4 4x4.
I got the truck with 149,000 miles, it now has 346,000 miles.
I had the trans fluid changed at 189,000 miles by the local ford dealer.
I have had 0 problems with trans until now.
The problem that I am having is when going down the road with trans in OD and go up a slight hill the trans will come out of lockup then down shift. when doing this it feels like the trans goes into neutral. The rpm's will go from say 2000 to 6000 then drop to 0 then back up to 5 or 6000 rpm's all in less than 2 seconds.
Truck will also do this when passing another car.
Trans will shift fine when manually shifting 1,2,3 under light, and hard acceleration.
If I turn OD off the trans downshifts fine.
