Passing Gear Problems

I own a 2005 F150 FX4 5.4L, I've had it now for more than two years and it currently has 126,000km. I just recently started having transmission problems with it and I'm wondering if anyone knows whats going on with it. When I'm on the road and say i'm doing about 80kmph and I floor it to pass a car or to go on to the highway, it wont shift into the passing gear, it's like having the truck in neutral and flooring it. if i just gradually press down down on the gas it will eventually get up to like 110 or so, it just wont do anything when i floor it.

I would start out by getting the TPS (throttle position sensor) checked for proper operation.

Thumbs down Similar issue

When I was coming home from work this morning everything was fine, then I pegged the pedal to pass some slow *** and then the truck was stuck in what I think is 2nd gear after I came to a stop and then tried to accelerate. Nothing that I did would bring the idle back down. So I let the truck drive me home while providing little assist from my foot (when climbing a hill). Could not go faster than 25 mph, any faster than that I felt my tranny would **** the bed. So after I got it home I thought I would let it sit in the garage beings that it sat in 15 degree temps all last night, but before I came into work tonight the symptoms were the same. 2200 to 2500 at idle when in park and couldn't get it to kick down for anything.
The the most outrageous thing of all is when I was going down hills I would put it neutral to get more speed and as the truck gained speed my idle would increase????????? Then as I would approach a stop 5 to 10 mph the idle would return to normal, once stopped the idle would jump back up to 2200 to 2500???? I haven't spent anytime as of yet investigating vacuum leaks, but with the symptoms that the truck is displaying I think it is a electronic part. My check engine light is on also :P , but I have yet to check the code. Any help is appreciated!!!!

P.S. - I attempted hitting the OD button, but that did nothing. Is this a TPS issue or should I look into this more.

I have yet to check the code.
Check it. Without a code we can't even speculate.
