stuttering tranny 2007 f150

I was towing 2 weeks ago and the tranny was stuttering while going up hill. when no tow it still stutters uphill. I know its not the engine cause rpm indicator is steady and no engine light on. This prob only seems to happen when at a steady cruising speed then going up hill. any ideas?

I would start with looking for a low grade misfire. Coil packs and plugs are the usual suspects with this problem and it's really very common.

It may be transmissioin related though. Don't write that off yet. I am just suggesting to start with the most common things that cause this issue which is almost always initially suspected to be a transmission problem but usually ends up not being. Many have replaced a perfectly good transmission and torque converter only to have exactly the same issue when they are done and then have to replace coil pack(s) to actually cure their problem. I hate seeing that.

How many miles on it? Has the tranny ever had a fluid change?
