Isn't it a 4R70W or the newer 4R75E? I don't think they are the same in the F150. As far as I know there is no 4R70E or a 4R75W.

according to my Ford Transmission manual, The transmission designation was changed in 2004. Several improvements were made; front pump, turbine speed sensor, output shaft ring gear and planetary gear set. 4.6L engines got the 4R70E...... 5.4L engines got the 4R75E, the only difference being the planetary gear set is hardened on the 4R75E.

For the 4R75E in the 3 valve F150 what do you recommend for a transmission rebuild and upgrade? I see lots of info on the 4R70W, but not much on the 75E. I want to have the transmission rebuilt and upgraded to handle more HP, so what would I ask for both hard and soft parts?

Hi, I do not intend to hijack this post but I will play an interesting topic and only wish to ask a question to these friends specialists transmission, requesting advance apologies to jtarms45: You may install and work properly one 6R80 by the 4R75 in a FX4 2007 I understand expedition 2008 brought him? This concern comes because my truck is supercharged and I see many recent truck with 6R80 they get a better response. I'm not sure what I just stated and please, if I can help, I would appreciate .Thanks,

again... its essentially the same transmission internally, so the mods that apply to the 4r70 also apply to the 4r75.

how much HP do you anticipate making? a stock rebuild with OEM parts can handle 500 HP, over 500 HP the forward clutch and direct clutch need to upgraded, which usually requires machining to add clutches.

6R80 is a whole different animal. while it may be possible to do the swap and make it work, I personally think its not cost effective.

Just the Whipple SC @ 6-8 PSI maybe 425 RWHP. But Have over 100K miles and would rather beef it up now than mop it up later. So I have heard things like OD bands with carbon fiber and the like, what is recommended?

A 4R75 has 2 sensors 1 is turbine speed sensor 1 is VSS, The 4R70 only has the VSS. you cannot swap the two. Computer cant determine turbine speed that is creating the problems.

As said before, 4R75E and 4R75W are the same thing.
