Drive 2

ok i have a 2004 f150 FX4 and ive never used drive 2 but i was messing around one day in the snow and i poped it in drive 2 and it seems like i have to smash the gas to get the truck moving is this normal like it takes half throttle before the truck starts moving but drive 1 is fine it goes with a tap and so does my regular drive. should i have this looked at?

If I remember correctly, when gear selector is placed in D2, the trans is locked in second gear. This is good for driving in snow and other slippery surfaces so as not to put to much power to the rear wheels. It used to be that way for other trucks that I have owned, but I have not owned 4x before.

Yes, that's how Ford transmissions work. When the shifter is in 2 the trans is always in second gear. It starts in second, not first.
