installing a clutch

installing a clutch

In my Chilton manual it says that I have to compress some tension springs or something, is this absolutely necessary and if so how can I do it with out a hydraulic press

They are talking about setting up the adjustment of the pressure plate. With a new clutch kit, new pressure plate, just install without doing the adjustment. It is not necessary with a new clutch.
