If you are maxed out, I'd leave the OD off permanently.

I thought that the reason you leave it off is to prevent it from shifting back and forth. There for creating heat and limiting the life of the transmission. If you keep the torque converter locked and prevent it from shifting by not useing the cruise control and watching the load meter to keep it from shifting. Wouldn't that be ok?

You will be closer to the power peak by running in 3rd with the converter locked. It's easier on the whole drivetrain. If you had 4.10's or better in there, it might be a different story.

i learned something from darrin burch on these 4r70w's... OD band is too easy to ruin, if your hauling heavy, turn od off.

You convinced me. I just hate running at 2500 when i could be at 2000 rpm's. But if it will make the transmission run longer then im in. Has anyone heard of a zf5 or 6 swap. I really hate having an auto.

I was driving 75 on the flats. I went over a scale and the truck and trailer loaded weighed 11,180. How much do the supercrew weigh empty? I stopped towing with over drive on. The truck would hold it in overdrive without unlocking the torque converter through all the small rolling hiles and flats. But on the side of caution i stopped.

Klitch....

What did you decide to do with your transmission?

Don't flame me, but you shouldn't be towing that fast. You should keep it down to 65.

waiting on dispute to close... draggin his feet...

also, the thing i hate about people preachin the od off idea with towing is that means i have to either do 55mph on speedo (50mph roughly) so i dont burn so much fuel i cry. or i have to travel at 70mph (65 roughly?) and burn around 9mpg... or less...

People are starting to think I work for Troyer. LOL

I don't. I am in Indiana and Troyer is in Virginia. It is logistically impossible.

I steer people to him for several reasons. The most important being that he knows more about these trucks when it comes to performance than anyone else I know and he sells only the best products.

lol i've never tried to imply that.

Troyer pointed me to you at one point because he felt you'd handle my needs the best to his knowledge.
