4R75W to stick, is it possible?

Hey, if it's possible I would really like my next mod to be a Manual tranny.

Has anyone done this? in theory I wouldn't think it to terribly hard to do. get a set of pedals, flywheel, tranny, and cut a big 'ol hole in the floor.

Any advice would be great.

looking I guess you have to program the automatic parameters out of the ECM as well.

its pretty much a bolt in deal except the computer part if you have to pass emissions that would be your only problem

You mean 4r70w?

Yeah you can do it, CE light will come on, but won't affect the motor. Prolly could get it programmed out, but I'm not too familiar with the OBD2's.

What kind of tranny you want? Supertough but slower, or lighter duty and a bit faster?

I don't really care if I have to switch gears a little slower, I would just like for it to be pretty stout. has to be 4x4 and a bolt in.

I have to pass emissions testing, but I will do some research on getting the auto tranny parameters programmed out of the ECM.

Whould a stick out of a 5.4 SD f-250 be a good one to look for?

Is the M5OD ( I think that what it's called) out of a 99-03 4.6 standard a farily strong tranny?

According to my VIN number I have the 4R75W, which I believe is the same thing as the 4R70W but there's something different with how the torque converter locks up I think. not really sure. I am sure some here knows the difference.

The M5OD tranny is junk. You will probably break several of them running a blown truck. Ask JMC, I think he has gone through like five. If you want one that bad, get used to changing them out.

If you have a 4.6L you could swap to a manual tranny, but if you have a 5.4L you are stuck with an automatic.
The manual tranny that Ford uses in the F-150 isnt rated for the power that the 5.4L puts out and I dont think that the manual tranny from a Super Duty would fit.
Id just stay with an automatic. Ford has invested way more money in developing their automatic transmissions because most people prefer automatics. Due to this, Ford's automatic trannys are much better than their manual trannys.

The M5OD will self-destruct behind a blown 5.4. If you can get the ZF out of a SD to fit, that's the only way to go.

If you have a 2000, you have a 4R70W or a 4R100 (rare). The 4R75 wasn't even made till 2004 or 2005 if I'm not mistaken.

yes try to get the 4x4 zf 6spd from a f2-350 with a 5.4 or 6.8 you will have a hard time breaking it and although it wont be a complete bolt in like the mazda from a 4.6f150 it should go in pretty easy the harder part will be the computer

Your best bet will be a ZF5 (NOT 6) from behind a 5.4 F-250. Search for JMC on here and ask him how his M50D is holding up behind his N/A 5.4... I think he's on his 2nd or 3rd transmission.

Do you just want a stick or is there more of a reason for going that route?

I really like standards, I think it would be great to have a 5.4 in a F-150 with a stick. I trying to plan a little ahead because my supposedly "built" tranny that's supposed to be good for 550hp is already showing signs that it's not going to go the distance.

If I had the 4R100 then I would just get it re-built properly for my application.

Would a tuner be able to program an ECM for the 4R100's parameters?

I'm not sure why you couldn't get a 5.4 with a standard, doesn't it make sense for those who want to tow?

The manual transmission that the F-150 uses isnt built for the power that a 5.4L puts out. If you really want a manual transmission, I think in the long run it would be much easier to just get a 4.6L and a 5-speed manual tranny from a junked F-150 and go that route. I think if you try to make a 5-speed work with a 5.4L its going to be more trouble than its worth.
As far as whether a stickshift would make more sense for towing, it comes down to the fact that nowdays most people prefer an automatic. Ford has invested a lot more money in developing their automatic transmissions and nowdays with lockup torque converters and the array of sensors, automatics perform just as well (if not better) than do manuals and get the same (if not better) fuel economy.
Nowdays, unless you are absolutely in love with shifting gears and working the clutch pedal, there is really no advantage to a manual transmission.

JCM isn't N/A, hes got a procharger. and blown f-150. you have a 4r70w. 4r75w is in the NBS trucks. you must just be using the wrong conversions for your codes.
