4R70W transmission Question

I recently purchased a 1995 Ford F150 4X4. The transmission is not working properly and I was hoping you could help me troubleshoot it for me. I am not very mechanical, so please be kind. The transmission seems to shift into reverse fine, but will do absolutely nothing in drive, or 1 or 2. What do you think would be causing this problem?

When you put it in "1" or "D" what does it do ? Vibrate ? mkae nasty noise ?

Does it physically go into "1" or can't you not even move the shifter down ?

If it doesn go in, does it make any noise ? When you give it gas, does it just rev up as if it was in neutral ?

The shifter goes into the positions of D or 1 or 2 just fine. I would say it acts like it is in neutral. I can rev the engine, which happens just like normal. There are no vibrations, or noises. The best I could describe it is if I were reving the engine while in neutral is what it feels like.
I just bought this truck, knowing there were tranny issues. I crawled under the tranny and looked around a little bit. One thing that stood out to me was that there was a wiring harness that spilt off to 2 connectors. One of the connectors was just hanging loose and not connected. I am wondering if maybe this is an electrical issue, more that the tranny itself.

Doesn't sound like an electrical problem to me bud. Sorry to tell ya. It sounds like you either lost a clutch pack... or more likely lost a band. You will either need a rebuild for it, or find a decent used one for a swap.

On this thread, a guy found a great deal. Here: https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=321650
