Clunk/Crunch noise once in a while, getting worse

99 F-150 XLT 4x4 V8 Ext Cab
A few days ago I noticed a noise somewhere around the rear axle that sounded like something was brushing against the drive shaft or so. Then one day I heard a loud crunching noise and clonk clonk clonk. It quickly got quiet again. Today I had the same kind of crunch noise again and again it got quiet soon but this time i keep having noises like something is scraping on a rotating part. I am no expert but it kinda sounds like a drive shaft bearing is falling apart. I can feel no change in operation, the vehicle doesn't loose power or braking power, everything is still the same. Its kinda hard to explain weird sounds but maybe someone has an idea what it could be...
Thanks and hi everyone btw, this is my first post

That's a universal joint that is about to fail. GET IT FIXED TODAY! If you don't, be prepared to pick your driveshaft up off of the road. Then it will be bent and you'll be buying a new driveshaft. That costs A LOT more than fixing the u-joint.

yes DEFF a u-joint. SOOOOO cheap to replace and beats buying a new drive shaft.

Ok I took the truck to the dealer and it turns out the parking brake was the reason for the noise. When it was really cold a while back the parking brake froze shut and the ripped apart while driving. It also destroyed the rear brakes so a had to spend almost $1000 to get it fixed. The dealer said this is a typical thing on this model.

When I was first reading it I was going to say the parking brake. I know that sound. This winter I had my parking brake pads fall apart then the adjuster and spring popped out. I thought it was my drive shaft or something at first also. Right now I no longer have an ebrake on that side. It's a sound you will never forget.
