yeah im really tring to avoid a flush b/c i have heard of so many trannys going out after having it done.

Don't drop the valve body. You will get yourself in over your head unless you are experienced inside an automatic transmission.

If you only drain the pan you'll need 5 to 7 quarts. If you drain the torque converter, too, you'll need 12 to 14 quarts.

If you pull the valve body it drains the top half of the convertor. My 03 didnt have a plug on the convertor, so pulling the valve body was the best i could do. I pulled out 10-11q and put in 11q. I think that is a pretty complete drain and fill on a 3gal (12q) system

I know not all comparisons can be perfect, but hopefully he caught my drift
