question about new differential cover

i am about to order a new rear diff cover for my 00 f150
it is 12 bolt, but how do i find out what size, and is it better to get a larger capacity one or it doesnt matter? and is 4wheelparts a good place to buy one from?
thanks

You should have a tag on the rear end cover now under one of the cover bolts. It will either be a 8.8 or a 9.75. Look for one of those two covers and that's what you'll need. Larger capacity is nice and helps the fluid run a little cooler. Beneficial if you're towing. Not much other benefit otherwise. What kind of cover is it?? I ask because you don't want chrome. Chrome is the worst dissipator of heat you can get on a component. It actually holds heat in. Although the effects are minimal at best, still bugs the crap out of me Mag-Hytec is the diff cover of choise. Go check that one out. Kinda pricey but worth it.

On the outside of the cover, a tag will be bolted on with the cover. You will be able to read it without opening the case.

I've had a Mag on my truck for a few years now. My only complaint is that the spare tire no longer fits underneath the tuck. I called and spoke to someone at Mag about this and was told this was the first time they'd ever heard of it. That's hard for me to believe, but it's a nice cover nonetheless.

Crash, I don't have PM privliges yet, can you PM me (will I be able to respond?) or email me? I was considering a Mag-Hytec tranny pan. I'm getting ready to flush and swap to synthetics.
