Question Tow/Haul Modifications????

Hello All,
Would like to ask for the collective wisdom of the group. I have an 04 150 Supercrew 4X4 5.4L . Outfitted with K&N, Gibson cat-back, and one of the power progammers. Truck is also equipped with Ford's tow package. What I would like to know is if there is a way to go from just OD on and off to the program that the 250's use where you actually have a Tow/Haul mode???? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. The trip from DE to Wilkes county NC last weekend with the 25' camper has left me less than thrilled with the truck's ability to climb

Thanks,

Chris

This is broken record day for me. LOL

I would again suggest talking to Troyer for this and get a tune. You won't find better.

I do beleive that the tow/haul mode in the F-250's is nothing more than reworded od on/off. Am I wrong?

Nah I think it changes shift times a bit and makes them a little more aggressive.

Yes, you're wrong.

Tow/Haul doesn't turn off OD. The trans can still shift to OD in tow/haul.

What tow/haul does is make the upshifts at a higher speed, and makes automatic downshifts with engine braking. You can do the same thing, though not automatically, by moving the shifter to 2 or 1, depending on speed. That will make a downshift with engine braking.

Nope, still wrong. The tow/haul in the 250 is a trans program the the 5 speed torqueshift trans uses. We don't have the torqueshift available to us in the 150. I wish we did. The 150 could definitely benefit from it. I for one could use it also. I travel to Wilkesboro from Salisbury often to go camping. I found that 421 is best run at 63 MPH with no cruise. You will have to roll in the hills to maintain speed. I usually run 68 going down and at the top I am at 63. I run an Edge Evolution on LVL 2. I have all my shift points retarded a bit so it will hold a gear longer. I have the firmness adjusted a bit and it does OK. Now, if you want to really test it, climb RT 16 to Glendale Springs. It will have you locked in 1st gear at 4300 RPM's running 30 MPH.
