Hey, what's a big rich engineer like you doing at home on a Friday night anyways? Seems like you should be out on the town in your big fancy Hummer.
I'm personally too tired to do anything but sit right here and watch you make a complete fool of yourself
Didn't you say you got your "engineering degree" from South Harmon Institute of Technology?
I hope a few people got that one

I've been really thinking about what he's said, and i considered what everyone else has said.. And i hate to say it danco, but i have to agree with everyone else. While more rpms generally does equal more fuel usage, it is definetly not an exact science at all. The one thing that makes the real difference is how much pedal that you use. Like has been said dozens of times, lower rpms wont equal better gas milage, if you have to use 75% throttle to maintain speed. If you stop and think about it, it is really not that complicated of an idea. Your idea is a much to simplistic analysis of gasoline engines, and really cant be used when it comes to 4500 pound trucks. I'm willing to have a calm discussion with you as long as you actually listen to my, and everyone elses reasoning.

I tell you what Danco. If you have a manual car or truck you put it in 5th gear or whatever your final gear is at 10-15mph and see what kind of mileage you get because from what i read in the first 2 pages (I didn't read the other cuz life is too short)of this post is that lower rpm=better fuel mileage correct?

HI!... All I know is when my truck was stock I got about 17mpg with the stock 3.55 gears and 30.00 inch tall tires. That was with a P.I 5.4, 260H.P/350FT/LBS of TQ (flywheel)
Now I have 4.10 gears, 28 inch tall tires and 430H.P/500FT/LBS of TQ (flywheel) and get 21.3MPG. It's called volumetric efficency.

Neal you are right I am very Jealous. If you are getting that kind of gas mileage with that set up. I just don't see how you can do it. can you give us some more details on what you did to get that kind of gas mileage out of that engine and gear ratio.
I am not only jealous but in aw. and I think you are my new hero.
