Coastal Mercon V

Has anyone used Coastal Mercon V for thier 4R70W? It is the house brand at Autozone. I know most of you use Motorcraft but that is kind of pricey and I was hoping to find a cheaper alternative that will work well.

Thanks!

Is your 1500-2000 dollar tranny worth a few bucks?

Only Motorcraft for my 4R100.

If you read the back of the bottle, Coastal is made by a brandname manufacturer. I think it's Valvoline.

Any Mercon V rated oil will work fine. Spend as much or as little as you're comfortable with. Everything from Supertech Multi-vehicle for $2.75 to Amsoil and Redline at $9-$10.

Wow cheap fluids on a truck that costs about 30K to 40K if you can afford vehicle that expensive then you can fork over some money for good quality fluids.

I kind of disagree......if the fluid meets or exceeds Ford specs, why not use it? With all the money you are paying each month on a truck note,it helps to save a bit here and there, even fluids.

Ok thats a thought meet or exceeds but do they ever tell you which one for sure? Why leave things to chance ?

If it "meets" specs then that means it is "equal" to that product. If it "exceeds" specs then that means it is "better" then that product. So,either way, what is there to chance?

Besides, Ford doesn't make their Mercon V anyway. They subcontract to a prime manufacturer. So it's very possible the Ford MV is Valvoline which is Coastal.

Ok true but they all say meets or exceeds they never tell you if it just meets the requirement or exceeds it. Its like you asked me a yes or no question and I answered yes and no. They should be able to say without a doubt if it meets the required spec or it exceeds the spec, they should word it as it meets and exceeds OEMs spec not meets or exceeds.

Talking

I'm satisfied with meets or exceeds. At least I know i'm getting a product that meets required specs and possibly exceeds them. All your higher priced products state it exceeds specs, which in turn makes them more expensive then meets or exceeds products. So,in the end,i'm going to stick with meets or exceeds rather then paying more for exceeds.
