I think there's more to worry about in a mechanical failure (one way clutch, planetary failure, whatever) in the E4OD/4R100 that use of a different fluid that what was originally specified.

So if you haven't heard about or seen Dextron written on a bottle, it doesn't exist.

"Castrol TQ Dextron III Auto Transmission Fluid

Maintains viscosity over wide temperature range
Excellent low temperature performance
Protection against pre-ignition
Extends transmission life
Available in 500 ml packs"

Do a search on google for dextron and notice a lot of websites have mispelled dexron.

And look at the GM site I posted that makes the stuff. As I said, it is commonly mispelled.

I don't believe I have ever asked you, what's it like with a F150 where you live? Do you have a good access to parts?

That is correct, many websites have misspelled it. I did a google search for "Castrol TQ Dextron III" and it came up with this:

http://www.castrol.com/castrol/produ...tentId=7000670

You'll see the word DEXRON with a "R" circled meaning it is 'restricted/registered.' There is no such thing as DEXTRON.

In fact, I copied and pasted exactly what you typed, "Castrol TQ Dextron III" and google's #1 response was: "Did you mean: Castrol TQ DEXRON III?"

Check with "trade marked" and "restricted/registered" product names...you'll not find DEXTRON.

I didn't intend for this thread to go this far. I just wanted to ensure that I wasn't confused about 2 similar ATFs.
