Unfortunately I don't like the Alto clutches at all. I also don't like any of the aftermarket shift kits except for the Factory Tech setup.
I am not a big fan of kevlar bands for a street driven application either. They slip and build up heat. That is bad.
But, I have my own opinions and tend to do things my own way.

I purchased a TransGo kit and wrote down all the drill sizes next to the holes they want you to drill. They give you an option of passenger car/towing/ and police. Why would they have you drilling the same holes in a car 4r70w as a truck, just differnet sizes to get the shift you want?I also wrote down all the drill specs from the J mod below the transgo specs. The J mod ,to begin with, has you drilling holes that hte transgo dont.I also did the same thing with a B&M shift kit.The drill specs are all with in the same hole sizes ,for the most part.

..I just had my tranny rebuild with alto clutches, hardened shafts, kevlar OD band, 3000 PI stall ect..for my turbo V6.I need to install a shift kit and now everyone has the wheels in my head turning..lmao
Car and truck vb's are different there is no "JMOD" for a truck vb.

the 4R70W tranny is a big enough POS as it is, i wouldnt risk drilling holes in VB's or doing any "DIY" kits that have you drilling holes and modifying it yourself for their kit to work. too many variables for stuff to go wrong. best bet is a drop in and go setup. Factory Tech is a tech FOR FORD in their tranny plant, he knows his chit better than all the others and has the in house testing equipment to KNOW his stuff works the best. FTVB all the way! Or now he's got the separator plate kit out for the 4R70W as well.

or chop down that money tree and swap over to a 4R100 and ditch that puny lil weak 4R70W

First off....Jerry W , the guy who came up with the J mod, help'd engineer the 4r70w so I think he knows what he is talking about. He is also one of the head honcho's of SCT.Im not saying Factoy Tech's are no good, hell I will prol end up going that route.

....And there is no way of putting a 4r100 behind a 4.2l.The race prepp'd 4r70w's have been proven among the mustang V6 racers running 10's.I have no worry's.

I no longer do the whole valve body for models after 1995, the plate is much simpler and just as effective, not to mention at $85 you can't beat the price. Plus, if for some reason you want to do a de-install, it's the only kit that allows you to set everything back to stock.
There is an article on it in this month's Ford Truck World Magazine and I think it's availible online.

Hope this helps,

G

If you ask Jerry he will tell you not to do that to a truck valvebody. Nobody said his info wasn't good just that it doesn't apply to truck valvebodies.
