Why the hell would you want to drive around with a tranny shifting like that? I can understand a nice quick firm shift, but sounds like yours is a little excessive?

Fordman: Here is a link to explain what you need and how to do it your self. theres really nothing you can't by at you local auto parts store and nothing to order

StngStr: best thing about it is the wife hates driving my truck. but under normal driving it has nice firm shift but from half to wot it will break your neck. And my truck is pretty much a weekend play toy.

You cannot safely JMOD a truck valvebody. If that is the route you choose get a car valvebody or seperator plate.

So the 4R70W in a truck is different than a 4R70W in a car?

Sounds to me like Svtwizard did it with no issues.

Car and truck valvebodies are very different. Don't be surprised if doing the mods to a truck valvebody gives you not so desired results in the near future.

I did do a jmod to my truck 4R70W and I love it. But after doing some research over on TCCoA Darrin, Greg (factory tech) & dirty dog all agree that the truck valve body is diffrent.I respect what these guys say and would listen. I may have gotten lucky doing mine and it working for me. My trans was rebuilt before I did the j-mod and dont know if the right valve body was put back in or not. To be safe, I would not do a jmod to your truck!!!I Believe greg has a kit that would work for our trucks.

I researched all of them and I like the factory tech valve body the best. It seems the easiest. I don't like the idea of drilling holes in your valve body.

Does Factory Tech offer a valve body for a 1999 4R70W on their web site it looks like they only have valve bodies for '92 to '95? Is the web information out of date?

Factory Tech has 2 versions for your tranny...you can either do a FT valvebody or a FT seperator kit...both are great products

Greg recommends seperator plate (with a couple other parts included), $85. Plate probably equals Jmod plate mods. I am buying and will confirm.

That would be great I would like to know the real deal on these shift kits, seems to be a lot of disagreement of what works and what dosen't between truck and car tranny's. No rush, but when you planning on reporting back your findings? and Any preference on the beer?

I would like to know the difference in J moddin the truck VS the car VB.

I purchased a TransGo kit and wrote down all the drill sizes next to the holes they want you to drill. They give you an option of passenger car/towing/ and police. Why would they have you drilling the same holes in a car 4r70w as a truck, just differnet sizes to get the shift you want?I also wrote down all the drill specs from the J mod below the transgo specs. The J mod ,to begin with, has you drilling holes that hte transgo dont.I also did the same thing with a B&M shift kit.The drill specs are all with in the same hole sizes ,for the most part.

..I just had my tranny rebuild with alto clutches, hardened shafts, kevlar OD band, 3000 PI stall ect..for my turbo V6.I need to install a shift kit and now everyone has the wheels in my head turning..lmao
