"a guess would be" some how the trans was put into gear without the shifter installed youll have to use a scew driver to shift it back into nuetral and then install the shifter

look down in the trans where the shifter goes and youll see the shift rails. in nutral they should be lined up but there not if its in gear to line them back up youll have to use a flat head screw driver to move the rail back or forth depending on what gear its in to get it back in neutral and install the shifter

also youll need to either hold the clutch pedal to the ground or get the back wheels off the ground to shift it into nutral

Thats just about 100% probably right. The shifter, if installed without being in nuetral, will do just htat. You kinda have to fiddle with it to get it to pop back in, then you're gonna have to bleed the clutch repeatively

Try looking down the hole of the shift tower and see what gear it is in. The shift rail slots would all be lined up if it were in neutral. First gear would have the slot in the right most rail further back towards the rear. Third gear would have the middle rail furthest back and fifth gear the left most rail further back.
Second gear would have the right most rail slot further ahead towards the front of the truck and fourth gear would be the middle rail furthest ahead and finally reverse would have the left most rain ahead.
If you know which gear it is in try placing the lever in the correct position in the rail slots and then button it up. If that doesn't work do the screwdriver as a lever thing and try to slip it into neutral. The longer the handle the more leverage it will offer.

If you cannot get it back into neutral then you will have to pull the tranny back out and removew the top cover. The shift forks are held in the top cover. With the cover upsidedown you can then move the shift rails so it is in neutral. You will also have to move the gears into their neutral positions than reinstall the top cover. With the tranny out I would recommend a new slave.

Try this link. http://www.therangerstation.com/tech...leedclutch.htm
Although it is for a ranger the procedure is simular. If your slave doesn’t have a bleed screw don’t worry post back here and I can tell you how to bleed it.
