Wondering should you be towing with OD turn off or On? Have a 01 screw with 4.6 and 3.55 gears?

 

This question has been asked and debated here many times. You can search for the long story if you like. The short story is that if the truck does not downshift and hunt for a lower gear repetitively and heat up the transmission, then it's fine to tow in OD. I've done it personally a million times. Under severe conditions with heavy loads, it's also fine to tow in 3rd only with the revs up.
