The Valvoline is fine for your 4R70W. It has the MERCON V rating, which is what is required. It does not matter that there is also a MERCON rating.

Just don't use this dual rated fluid in a transmission that requires MERCON.

Mark- I think I found a good solution to the tranny shudder. I talked to a buddy of mine who works in a transmission shop and he said the sheudder problems are not uncommon in Fords. We put two tubes of this stuff called "Shutter Fixx" (available at most transmission suppliers) and within 5 miles all vibrations were gone. Are you familiar with this stuff?
