no O/D light no O/D

I have a 2000 5.4 F1504x4. The O/D will not disengage when I press the button. Any ideas? I thought it was the button itself, I replaced it, but still same problem.

Probably a broken wire in the steering column. Sometimes the wire breaks where the wheel tilts.
