which Brake Controller to use on my 2001 f150?

I have a 2001 f150 supercrew 5.4l 4x4

Which Brand & Model electric brake controller for this rig?

I would like to be able to use it Manually as well, if I need to apply Extra braking power, by hand electronically, to the trailer. (I have no idea if all of them have this feature).

All suggestions greatly appreciated!!

Thank You

This Kit has both the Controller and that plug-in wiring adaptor that is "Plug & Play" kind of?

My truck is already wired for lights to the trailer (see attached)

So if my current truck to trailer wiring at the rear bumper is installed correctly... All I would need is this: Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller & Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controller installed?

Also... is my Trailer Electrical Connector a 6 pin or 7 pin? Does the Center one count as the 7th?

You need exactly what I linked. The adapter cable plugs in between the controller and the socket under the dash. Plug and play, you may need to install trailer tow relays and fuses. Yes, that's a standard 7 pin.

I agree 100% with glc! The Prodigy P3 is an excellent trailer brake controller, and yes, it will be "plug and play" with the included connector. As glc mentioned, you MAY have to check the power center (fuse holder) under the hood for the 30A fuse and possibly a relay to get power to your trailer battery. I THINK the trailer brakes, though, will be working as soon as you deploy the P3. I had this same brake controller on my old 2005 King Ranch. It was easy to set up and use and provided excellent control to the electric trailer brakes.

UPDATE:

First off... Thank you for all the suggestions!

I looked for the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 back in September and could not find any new ones at that time. Several places that carry or sold them were Out of them.

I ended up buying and installing the: Tekonsha 90160 Primus IQ - from what it says in the description... it does everything that I will need it to do. I still have not towed that trailer yet. Looks like sometime in January to pick up the trailer. Should be challenging... drive to Omaha NE and back, towing all the way back in January. I hope for some luck that there wont be any ice on the roads much at that time.
