Towing with a 2001 F150 Supercrew 4x4 - 800lbs hitch/5025 lbs Tlr

Good Morning;

I am looking at a different Used trailer - I have the 2001 Ford F150 Supercrew 4x4 w/ 3.55 gear ratio

The trailer is:
27' long
800lbs hitch weight
5025 dry weight

I would be using an Easy Lift hitch set up with the bars and also using a Sway Bar. My only concern is the 4R70W transmission... I would be running at 55mph (maybe 60mph if it feels like it is towing well) with the transmission in Tow Mode.
I am Not in a hurry to get anywhere Fast so my speed choice is fine with me and I dont want to put too much work on the transmission.

Question:
***I would like to know if you guy's think my truck should be able to handle this trailer with this tow set up?

Thank You

Your transmission does not have a tow mode. What you should do is lock out overdrive. You should be within ratings and should not have any issues as long as it has a separate transmission cooler from the one in the radiator. We talked about fluids in other threads and you should be fine with a good synthetic.

The only thing I'd be concerned about is possibly exceeding the truck GVWR if you load up with passengers and stuff in the bed. You should be under max trailer weight unless you pack the trailer full of heavy stuff. Max tow is either 7200# or 7700# depending on wheel and tire size.
