1979f250 with a 460

Hi im looking into a 1979 f250. It has a 460 auto. I was wondering what im looking at for towing capacity. Its 2wd and rear gears are unknown. I was looking at buying a buddys 33 foot trailer and it weighs around 8-9000lbs. Is this enough truck for the job.

Well, they really didn't have "tow ratings" for trucks of that era.. Other than having the GVWR and the GAWR on the door jamb sticker..

The 460 of that era is a carbureted beast and had good power for 1979, but what's it's condition now, some 34 years later?

Will you get down the road? Sure... How well it'll tow is any one's guess...

I wouldn't go with that much trailer with a 34 year old truck myself, but that's just my opinion...

Good luck with whatever you decide to do! I do like that era of F250's however!
