Question How much do YOU tow?

Hey guys... Flea here.

Just thought I'd do another little survey.

I have a 1998 SC 4x4 w/ 5.4L and towing package. I regularly pull a 3700# horse trailer with either one or two 1200 # horses. My baby handles this thing with no problem! She takes it with a smile and asks 'Is that all you've got?' How much do you guys tow? Do ya tow often?

Just trying to make some trailer conversation.

Hey Flea,

I regularly tow my coachmen travel trailer it weighs in at about 6900 # and I have never had a problem, but I must admit the weight distrobution hitch and anti-sway really make highway travel a lot less stressfull...

I tow my travel trailer weighing in at 4968# plus probably 200# of extra stuff thrown in. Just weighed my supercrew today with it loaded as if ready to hook up and go camping, came in at 5920#, wow. May justify buying that super duty after all.

It pales in comparison to what you guys are pulling
1,700 LBS plus my junk = 3500 ??
Makes me feel better about the tow

My be a little late, But we tow every other week a 6000# Travel trailer and 500# extra gear in the truck. on a 97 F-250 LD 4x4.
Only problem to date is warped rotors. Tranny/filter oil changes every 20k.

good looking truck

Hey F150Europe... Flea here

Good looking truck! Pretty impressive numbers you're pulling! I like that badge for the tailgate you have! I think I'm gonna get one for mine with just the Triton V8 badge below (because I have a lariat and it wouldn't make sense to put an XLT sticker on the tailgate). Keep it goin' guys!

Be safe; as always

See the pic and sometimes add a 650lb trailer and dirt bike. I always tow in OD until I hit a hill. Half the time it doesnt need it , but you can tell it takes the load off the trans. I've never needed 2nd gear yet at speed. I get over 11 mpg loaded. Putting on my homemade FIPK lost a smidgen of low end grunt, but gave me a full 1 mpg better towing.

When towing my 20' Wilderness travell trailer, it usually crosses the scales at about 11,000# -- which is a bit much for overdrive on anything but a billiard table.

Considering the de-rating one must account for when at any altitude (3.5% for each 1000 Ft above sea-level), or temperature (2% for each 10 degrees) the above combination is just about optimal.

I pull a 8600 lb 5th wheel with my '97 F-250 ld SC 3.73ls. Mine also won't pull in OD. Except for long hills in Colorado (5ooo rpm/1st gear, it pulls fine elsewhere.

4,100 pound enclosed utility trailer ( like the landscapers use )
A real lightweight compared to you guys. It does have a 7200lb gross weight rating and from what i've read here, it should pull it with no problem.

Gdblake's combo is overloaded before it even rolls -- glad to see it doesn't go into cardiac arrest, as my 7700 series is the same as his 250LD.

Cool

I tow a 6200# camper with no problems, except horrible gas mileage. I only get about 6MPG going about 60-65MPH.

i just bought my 2000 f-150 this past friday...it is a supercab/4x4/5.4...my main reason for purchasing the 5.4 and not the 4.6 is the towing...i have a 1991 ford ranger that i show...i am not sure exactly how much the truck weighs, but i do know that it weighs more than stock because of mods i have done...i have pulled it a number of times with my buddies 4.6 2x4 supercab longbed and have had NO problems at all...you cant even feel it back there!! (and it isnt the easiest truck to tow by any means!)

we are off to indy truck bash this weekend and i cant wait to see how she does...i am sure there wont be ANY problems whatsoever!
