Post horse trailer

I am looking at purchasing a 2 horse trailer, anyone have any recommendations for my hitch. Do you recommend putting on extra leafs?
I have not yet purchased the trailer anyone have any pictures of their setup.

Cool

There is a picture of my set up under the Rig Pics topic. Reese, Draw-tite, Hidden Hitch all make good hitches, I assume you are talking about a 2 horse bumper pull. You will not need to add extra leaves, your truck is fine the way it is. Since you are asking about a hitch, I assume you don't have the towing package which could possibly mean that you don't have the super engine cooling package. If you don't have a tranny cooler it would be a good idea get one. It may be possible that you have the cooling package without the towing package as it can be purchased separately or be included with the tow package.

Well on my window sticker it says 400 dollars, but you can beat that by going with aftermarket stuff. I would think you could probably get everything you need for about 200 to 250 bucks, and if you are talking about a 2 horse bumper pull, with no dressing room or anything you can probably get away with not having a tranny cooler, although it definatly wouldn't hurt to have one.

If you do nothing else, get a good tranny cooler installed.

How expensive is it to have the towing package added. I should have thought of this when I bought my truck.

Actually, he might already have a tranny cooler. Truth is, I haven't seen a 5.4L without a tranny cooler.

jb2001, look inside your grill. Low down on the driver's side, all our trucks have a little cooler. That's for the power steering. If there's also one on the passenger side, you already have a tranny cooler.

Does anyone have any pictures of the cooler. Is there another way to locate it without looking through the grill? or should I remove the chrome grill front to locate it. No luck yet.

Finally, I took a real good look at the truck. There are spaces parallel with the front license plate, in there I could see 2 small coolers [looks like mini rads], one on the driver's side and one on the passenger'e side.

Is this the tranny cooler?
