Thinking about getting this 5th Wheel

I dont know much about this brand but it all seems to be within the limits of my pickup. Does anyone else know about the quality of these trailers? Any info would be appreciated. And I know, I know, dont pull 5th wheels with half tons...

Who cares that its a 5th wheel. 6,063uvw is what I would be thinking about more. I pretty much got the same truck as you and my toybox is 4900uvw and I know how hard of a time I have. All I can say is good luck with that!!

Forest River makes a nice trailer ~ I almost bought one of their travel trailers, but the interior height was too short for me at 6'5". You shouldn't have that problem with a 5th wheel. What you may have a probelm with is that UVW! My TT has a UVW of 5,049# and my F150 with the 5.4 is workin' to pull it! You could probably do it, but allow yourself plenty of time to get where you're going and pack a fat stack of cash for gas! The one short trip I've pulled my trailer on so-far made me wish I'd have ponied up the extra $$$ for the F250 Diesel!

I doubt you'll be under GVWR of your truck when loaded up for a family camping trip. That's all I have to say.

The thing is, I have pulled trailers loaded with hay and seed well over 8000lbs and although the truck had to work to get where I was going, i feel it did fine. Im not the kind that trys to win any races with my truck; loaded or unloaded, because I feel that the trip it takes to get there is part of the experience. I like to take my time especially when Im on vacation. Also Im more interrested in if anyone has any experience as to the quality of these trailers.

My grandad used to say when I was a kid "Id rather loaf than lug when pulling a trailer", but he wouldn't have paid $45,000 for a truck either.

I say "ya got what ya got, make the best of it"

A couple things of note for your comparison to past experiences. There's more tounge/hitch weight with a 5th wheel RV than any other trailer. 5th wheels are taller than almost every other traielr, thus more aerodynamic drag, especially on the highway/interstate.

Every time I hear one of these, "can I pull it" questions I have to shake my head. Why do you want to pull something that's most likely too much for your truck to pull with enough margin for safety? The question shouldn't be whether or not you can pull it, but rather should you. What's going to happen in a panic stop when someone cuts you off? What's going to happen when you encounter high winds? I sure don't want to be around to find out.

-Trust me I know there are dangers of pulling anything, with anything. My grandfather was killed pulling a light bumper pull Airstream with a 1 ton pickup when he was cut off by a trucker. So saftey margin or not sometimes, i hate to say, **** happens.
-And when it comes to stopping or high winds, like I said Im not trying to win any races. You have to know how to compensate for the extra weight with appropriate distances between you and the traffic enviroment. And also the trailer should stop itself.
-Im looking for any info on the trailer primarily.

I saw 3 half tons pulling fifth wheels this morning

My trailer is about 5000#'s now load it with 100 gal. of water, 3 quads, generator, food, 15 gal gas. Tv's, all gear for 3 peeps. I know its close maybe a little over 8000#'s. The trailer is rated for 10,500#'s, thats way over my trucks rating.

My truck is rated at 8200 or 8700 I forget. And I added bigger tires so that's another neg.

All that said and done, I'm surprised how well it pulls and handles. I don't have a problem pulling it up to 55-60 and can even hold 50-55 with my foot to the floor while going up the hills around here.

BUT I will be upgrading to a F250 in the future. I'm sure it would eventually take it's toll on my F150.
