Where to hook up Auxilary wire

I just installed a seven pole/4-flat receptacle on my 2002 Supercrew. My question is where can I connect the BLACK Aux. Power wire in the back of the truck? Do I have to run a wire all the way to the battery for this? Everything else is connected fine, but I need aux. power for my electric trailer jack. I sure hope I don't have to go all the way up front for this?

in the wire bundle that the trailer wires were in there is a heavy guage orange wire...this is your aux power wire. You might need to install a relay for the trailer aux and a fuse....they fuse relay location is under the hood....

So the orange wire must currently not be hooked up to anything since it was OEM 4-flat right? I did follow the 4-flat back a little bit and it is coming off of a male/female socket type hookup, would the orange wire be there on that socket? Because the only wires on the 4-flat were the green, yellow, brown and white. Perhaps I need to peel back the black plastic conduit a little more to reveal the orange wire?

It's either in the connector...or if you follw the harness there might be another connector that is not connected to anything with the brake(blue), aux charge(orange) and reverse (brown w/ green trace). There could also be a 4th wire...can't remember.

Your truck is already wired for the 'tow package' 7 pin connector, even if it did not come with the 'tow package'....

You do need to get the Ford 7 pin connector, then it would just plug into the existing harness where it ends. It's located on the frame rail where the spare tire is.

Just unplug the flat 4 connector and plug in the 7 pin.

You would have to make sure you have the additional fuses and relays under the hood, but you should not need to run any additional wires to the front of the truck...

You can always hack into the harness I guess, but that's not what I would do....
