I pull a KZ Frontier 2505. Weight as it sits in the warehouse, 4981. Weight after wife, kids, dog and every friggin thing we own, about 6000lbs and tanks almost always dry.

Pull this rig with both my 2006 F150 SCREW Lariat 2wd, 3.73LS and Tow Package as well as with my 2003 Toyota Sequoia.

Curtis Hitch with dual friction sway controls, 1000lb bars and Prodigy Brake Controller (in the ford) and the Wal-Mart special in the Sequoia (that controller stinks).

 

I have a 2001 F150 Supercab with a 5.4L engine, with some custom heavy-duty features (it was a commercial fleet vehicle) including a transmission oil cooler and heavy-duty shocks.

I tow a Bison Trail Blazer 16 ft. four horse stock trailer. We installed a class IV non-WD hitch with a Husky Excursion digital braking system for maximum smoothness for the horses. Trailer runs about 2800 lbs empty, plus 3 horses at 1200 lbs each plus tack plus kids plus hay plus people food plus slightly insane mom, totals about 6,000 pounds or so with a full tank of gas, and an empty wallet...

I turn off OD and try to keep an even speed on the highway of 55 mph (90 km/h here in Ontario!) but we'll lagging on the hills. Fortunately we don't haul very far for horse shows - mostly local and we plan on taking our time.

 

It depends on what I'm hauling. I have a 21' flat bed bumper pull car trailer, but I've only hauled four cars on it. Usually I'm hauling three round bales of hay on it and one in the bed. I also have an old mid 70's steel six horse gooseneck trailer with sleeper/tack room in it. I've towed my brother's 24' gooseneck cattle trailer along with a few other things. Of course, I don't have an F150 though.

9,000 towing miles so far with the new truck and not a problem, plan to tow from NC to Fla panhandle in June for anual fishin get together in Bay City Fla.
Ford F150 should do the trip nicely. (V.s. previous years towing with my Dodge Ram 1500 SLT w/ 5.9L). Easy to maintain 70 mph towing speed on highway (dependant on individual state towing speed limit laws, I.e. NC is 55 mph, but tows great at 70 mph... drinks up the fuel though...)

My '97 F150 (4.6L) pulls a 4 horse stock trailer with my pair of clydesdales in it. I've got the towing package and brake controller (can't really tow anything of weight without one). I also use a load-leveling hitch on that trailer. Est weight of the trailer is about 2500 lb, each horse just under 2000 lb. I've weighed it, but I can't remember the details....

Pulls up the mountains fine as long as you don't mind cruising at 30 mph when you're going up.

 

I have a 01 screw with a 5.4 and tow package ( trans cooler, brake control,weight bars and sway bar ) it weighs 5472 dry and about 6500 loaded.We pulled it down to the smokeys and did not have any problem. So you should not have any either as long as you take it easy and not try to keep up with all the idiots out there!

 

22' 2003 Prowler Lynx. About #5000 loaded up to the gills. Truck does very well with it, even on the 6% grades!



This was part of a trip in Idaho.... Didn't do any real 'white water' stuff, but it got exciting!

 

The most I ever pulled with my truck was 36,000 lbs of wheat.

 

I'm pulling a 32' Layton RV (5,600#'s dry) with an '01 F150 SCSB, 5.4, 3.55. The truck has to work a lot on hills but it gets where we need to go. I am hoping to upgrade to a 3/4 ton in a year or so. Love the truck - 75K miles with zero problems.

I had it weighed weighed it last summer. Boat, trailer etc with full fuel tanks (36gal). comes in at ~4200lbs. The boat has a larger displacement engine than the truck (302/5.0). Truck is a '99, 4.6l, auto, 3.55ls gears, 2wd. Does very well, can let it run in OD @65mph as long as it is fairly flat. Gets 12-14mpg with the boat, 16-20 without.

Also tow a 20' double axle enclosed trailer full of gear, guesstimate 5000lbs. No problems hauling it locally. I don't take it on the Interstate.

 

How does the truck handle that trailer? Im looking at a 29 foot nomad that has a dry weight of 5150 and probably looaded I would be around 6200.. Think my truck can handle that safely with wd, sb, and 3rd brake installed?
I have a 05 Supercab XLT with a 5.4 and 3.55 gearing.. The truck tow raiting is 7700 lbs.
