What do you tow?

What do you tow with your F150? Camper - TT, 5th wheel, etc.

#2500 5' x 8' utility trailer. The trailer gets scratched and dirty, while the truck stays clean. For the heavy loads I pull an old 1949 Chevy 1 ton truck converted to a trailer. It hauls about a yard of sand.

Every couple of years I rent a 42' cherry picker on a trailer and use it to stain my house. I't the heaviest thing I have towed.

With the Utility trailer I don't notice it is even back there.

Here it is in Port Hardy BC.

I never noticed before, but you can see my F150online sticker in the rear window.

I tow my 1992 Progression 22 with a modified (240 HP) Mercury outboard on a single axle EZ Loader galvanized trailer. (The boat runs 78 MPH.) The boat and motor weigh appx. 1,400 lbs and the trailer is probably good for about the same amount. Although the 4.6 does OK towing it, the 5.4 in my nearly identical '99 F-150 didn't know it was back there. Since I also work part time at a marina, I end up towing all sorts of other stuff. The most I've towed with my current truck is about 6,000 lbs. With the '99, I once towed a 35' Fountain with twin big blocks - figure about 11,500 on the trailer. It did just fine!

I may have you all beat....I have a '98 f-150 4.6l 4wd offroad package.
I tow a 251 Proline boat (27ft long) Fully loaded with fuel, it weighs about #7500. It sags the rear just a little but other than that, it tows just fine and the steering and handling are great. I tow it less than 10 miles each way per fishing trip but I have been doing it for almost two years without a problem.

The most I tow now is an enclosed trailer to haul motorcycles. Dunno exactly how big it is, but its around 2500lbs loaded.

When my dad owned this truck, he towed our 24' travel trailer, the most it ever tipped the scales at was 6300lbs. The heaviest the entire truck & trailer weighed combined was 13,500lbs.

Iamgeeky,

how much room in front of the fifth wheel hitch? I'm just wondering if you can install a fifth wheel on a SuperCrew?

My 5th wheel has the extended pin box and my hitch is a slider. I'm not sure what the distance to cab is. I centered the pin over the axle but I wish I would have put it more forward. I've turned pretty sharp and never was within 4 inches to the cab and that was with the hitch forward.

I have been told 5th wheels and Screws don't mix even with a slider.

We tow an 18" party barge with our V-6 trucks which do great. The Superchips might help a little bit though.
