omg you can read a map and apparently have read the constitution.

Im just saying it is their truck, If the wanted to paint it pink that is their choice, you right every one is entitled to their own opinion but you still shouldn't trash a thread with negativity.

yes i can, and why state the obvious, we all already knew it is his truck and that its his choice.

i wasnt trashing anything. just giving my opinion to which you are now agreeing that im entitled to? when before you said i should $TF^ if i didnt like what he was doing to his truck. bottom line, it was a forum discussion. "discussion" being the key word here. i cant help it you have socialistic tendancies and ideals.

Why are people so sensitive? No one is trashing the truck, I've said before that I love Raptors. The only thing being questioned is the choice of using a Raptor in competitive drag racing. If he started this thread and said "I'm going to throw a bunch of go fast parts at my Raptor" he would be getting nothing but a bunch of praise. But at the end of the day no matter how many people get all upset the FACT remains that the Raptor is a horrible choice if you want to be COMPETITIVE in drag racing, especially if you plan on retaining the stock suspension. That is a fact, not an opinion.

i donno. i agree. i voiced that same opinion as you. some have issues with opinions being given here and take it personally. i do realize its his raptor and as i think you said before that he is just tossing go fast parts at it with no intent to actually win a race. i think that maybe i took it a little too literally when i read the 1st post about it "killing" opponents at NMRA. It is not a vehicle for drag racing, but i guess if the OP wants to play with it and has the money, then so be it. At any rate, I wish him the best of luck and hope that he has fun with it, after all, thats the point.

i will check in on this thread from time to time as i think raptors are cool just to see whats up with it. if he could find time in between drag race events to showcase some video of it flying over some sand dunes or something that would be great!!!!

Undercover Paint Color

I've never been a huge fan of the Undercovers due to the "plastic" look. I like the A.R.E's, but the downside is the weight.

The painted to match Undercover is the hot ticket. Only weights in about 58 lbs, yet looks very clean on the truck. The model also has a sort of build in wing to give it a nice look.

The first thing we noticed was how well the cover appeared to be packaged.





Install was pretty simple, and with the reduced weight compared to an A.R.E. or other heavy brand, the time from start to finish was maybe 20 minutes.

The finished product looks great on the truck! A little bit of snow today, but you get the idea!







The cover also comes with a preinstalled light which is nice.



With our trick bumpers in the process of being built by the guys at Wicked Performance Shop, we figured it's time to get to work on the fender flares.

We pulled off the fender flares (without breaking one clip I might add!).

We thought about going with a line x coating for that look to match the bumpers / running boards. But, due to the thickness and worry of scratching the oem paint, we decided to go a different route.

What we will be doing, is scuffing them up, adding "rock guard" to the flares, and then painting them with a flat black. This should give a slight textured look to the flares, and provide excellent protection out on the road.





Does the cover come painted to match the OEM paint job?

i have raced trucks before. my last one ran high 10s on a $h1tload of laughing gas and a built motor. i know 2 guys who race lightnings, and they will tell you too that you will not find a harder vehicle to hook up hp at the track than a truck. period. first off, they have the worst front to rear weight ratio of any vehicle in the world. all nose heavy, no weight at all the back. racing trucks can be done, but it will need extensive and very well thought out suspension mods done. i ran a 4-link setup on mine with full slicks, a locker, and 4.90s.

and these guys are gonna do it on stock suspension? please. your talking about launching a 6000lb truck. to break into the 12s (which will be the point where you will even get noticed at NMRA) you will need to make at least 700 hp. while that may be possible with the 6.2 and enough boost (i dont know how much hp the stock internals can take, but 700hp is stretching a 5.4 pretty far) there is NO WAY, and i repeat, NO WAY that them or anyone else is going to hook up 700hp to the pavement with stock raptor soft swishy suspension. that thing is going to axle wrap like nothing youve ever seen. i know guys with mustangs who have a hard time hooking up less hp than that, with modded suspension on a car that was made to drag race. and your gonna do it on a 6000lb, 4x4 truck with stock offroad suspension?

and let me guess, you are going to counteract all of this with 4wd launches arent you? you will learn when you try it that it doesnt quite work the way you imagined it would in your "raptor gone drag racing wet dreams" you have been having.

there is a difference between 4wd and Awd. the industry created two different terms to describe channeling power to all 4 wheels for a reason. you might want to look into it.

More food for thought" Do you think there is a reason SVT made all the Lightnings 2wd?
