I am a former motorcycle, ATV, and side by side class desert racer, and have spent the last 30 years involved with off road motorsports, primarily desert racing. Suspension is the most important item on a desert race vehicle, or a pre-runner, and right now my race quad has $2000 worth of Elka shocks on it, and my former side by side that I sold had over $10,000 worth of suspension mods on it. This new Raptor is impressive for an OEM stock vehicle, and it looks like Ford is serious about producing a truck built like it needs to be built for the desert. I had planned on replacing our current GMC pickup truck sometime in this next year, and had been thinking about buying a Dodge Power Wagon, but the Raptor would be a much better match for what I would use a pickup truck for. Here is a picture from last weekend with the Jeep, which is pretty much like every weekend in our family, and also a picture of the Ford Raptor. You tell me if the terrain looks similar.

Thanks for all the information I was able to gather on the Raptor on this forum this afternoon. You've got a great forum here.

I have two questions about the Raptor. 1) When can we order a 6.2 model? 2) What is the price going to be? I'm guessing $65K for a fully optioned out 6.2.

I am not sure where the pic is taken with the jeep but the raptor is probably taken at the ford proving grounds near Yucca AZ.

The picture of the Jeep was taken at the northern end of Hamblin Valley, in southwest Utah. From that point it is nearly 100 miles to the nearest paved road.

I think the new Raptor is going to be a great truck. I have seen magazine articles on the Raptor now in four different magazines, and I'm looking forward to seeing some actual test reports.

Well, I hope Ford doesn't put those crappy plugs that break easy in there.
Any updates on a price yet?

I would sure like to see a street version with the 6.2 in it. If they do, I'm in (would love a HD model).

Either way, looks real nice.

So Ford finally built a 4x4 from scratch. No more adding a front differential to a 4x2. Or did they? Doesn't matter. Ford did this one right.

I have been out of the loop with all this lately. Sorry if this is a repeat question but whats the deal with Ford going out of business and the Production of the Raptor? I heard they have enough money to get through 2009, but then what happens after that? I plan on buying a Raptor so whats is gonna happen? Anybody know? Again, sorry if this is a repeat question.

That couldn't be further from the truth.
