This truck is going to have a very high price tag...so let's wait and see how many of these we actually see flying through the air. SVT needs to take back to there roots and give us what we've been waiting for ---- finally a 3rd gen Lightning
Pointless??? I ,for one, will definitely be putting my name on the list for one of these, i would love to put it's capabilities to work on some trails. Its 4x4, plenty of power, same towing and payload specs as a regular F150(I know, I checked when I was at SEMA today) What more could you want??? Maybe if your more into the lowered, go fast trucks, then yeah its pointless to you...but for me, this is exactly what I'm looking for. My current truck is hopefully the last 2 wheel drive, lowered truck I will own. My next truck.....RAPTOR.

Great looking truck and a damn good idea but wouldn't ever buy one. I'd still take a fx4 model over it and mod it to my liking. One thing that caught my eye are the headlights and taillights on this raptor and is what Ford should be putting on the fx4 model

Wow. Finally Ford doing something right. Wouldn't have it without the 6.2L though.

Very nice.

All you naysayers miss the point entirely. It has been clearly stated that this is a Halo vehicle much the same as the Ford GT. This is a way to generate buzz in the ever increasingly competitive truck market, period. They won't make money on the truck, heck they may even lose money. However, the overall increase in brand interest/visability will more than offset the limited production runs of the Raptor. Additionally, the research CLEARLY showed the off road market is growing at a much faster pace than street performance. Ford has an opportunity to make a real splash in the offroad segment that has not been touched by other manufacturers.

Good on Ford.

I think Fords efforts at generating interest are working. I haven't owned a Ford since my 1993 F350, ... which was back in 1993. But I have become interested enough in the Raptor to join a F150 forum. I am a former motorcycle, ATV, and side by side class desert racer, and have spent the last 30 years involved with off road motorsports, primarily desert racing. Suspension is the most important item on a desert race vehicle, or a pre-runner, and right now my race quad has $2000 worth of Elka shocks on it, and my former side by side that I sold had over $10,000 worth of suspension mods on it. This new Raptor is impressive for an OEM stock vehicle, and it looks like Ford is serious about producing a truck built like it needs to be built for the desert. I had planned on replacing our current GMC pickup truck sometime in this next year, and had been thinking about buying a Dodge Power Wagon, but the Raptor would be a much better match for what I would use a pickup truck for. Here is a picture from last weekend with the Jeep, which is pretty much like every weekend in our family, and also a picture of the Ford Raptor. You tell me if the terrain looks similar.

Thanks for all the information I was able to gather on the Raptor on this forum this afternoon. You've got a great forum here.

I have two questions about the Raptor. 1) When can we order a 6.2 model? 2) What is the price going to be? I'm guessing $65K for a fully optioned out 6.2.

How about a Roush blower option for the 6.2L that doesn't negate the warranty. Hey, if your going to spend that much money you might as well go all the way.

The thing I like the most about it is the name

They should make a street-model (3rd gen L) based off the same specs. 6.2L with a blower, please!

The Raptor is badazz!!!!!!!!! I don't know if I like the grill yet though, it's different, but I'm still deciding. They need to make the Raptor be the off-roading special edition truck and then they do need to make a 2wd version like the old lightnings.

A 3rd gen lightning would probably make me cream myself in these new body styles with a 6.2L supercharged V8 GIGGITY GIGGITY

I was going to buy a lightning instead of my current truck, but I wanted a 4wd so I got the '05 XLT instead. I traded an '02 GT mustang 5 speed for my current truck. I do miss the car, going fast is fun, but making people look up to you at stop lights is fun too
