lift, tires and wheels

What do you all think i should do to my DAily Driver 97 extended cab f-150 4x4? Im looking for 6 or 8 inches of lift and a good street tire like a bfg or mtr or even a ssr.
When i lift it should i look into put a p inch in the rear? Ill use this alot in the dunes and would like to regear. What would i have to do about the yokes?
Also what lift would you go with and do you think i should take on the task of lifting it myself?

Im thinking of either a 6 inch lift with 33's because the 33's would be easier on the suspension.
If i go with an 8 i would probaly do a 6 inch with 2 inch body
Any ideas would be great.
What tire / lift combination do you like?

Great site and thanks
Ryan

Always go bigger. You'll kick yourself later if you don't....take my word for it.
I went from Skyjacker's 4" to 6" to 8" and then a 3" body lift. Do it once and leave it.
I installed the lifts myself with some help from a few buddies.
Bigger is better!

I would go with a fabtech 6in or RCD 5in, there really isnt much difference in the height between the two. The RCD might last a little longer. I would put 35s on there, it would look much better. You could go with BFGs AT or BIG FOOT XTs. Personally i dont really like body lifts.

thanks for the replies.
Ive already gone though the big truck daily driver stage.
I have a 71 chevy with a 12 inch lift. I live in cali right now so cops give me alot of crapt.
RCD seems like it is a high quality.

The reason i like 33's is because they would be easier on the suspension.
I have a early bronco for hardcore wheelin.

What do you think about installing a lift youself?

I don't think 33s and a 6 inch lift is going to look right. Personally I think 35s are too small for a 6 inch lift.

Anyway, I'd suggest a 5" RCD lift and 35s. Best bang for the buck in my mind.

The 35s are fine with the suspension system of our truck. I have over 20,000 miles on my setup and everything is great. I think the worst thing about lifted trucks is not the tire diameter, it is the offset aftermarket wheels putting major stresses in on the wheel bearings, ball joints, etc. Which is the reason why I stuck to the original wheels.
