I think almost all states require trucks to have mud flaps, regardless of tire size, but usually they won't bother you unless your high enough to chuck rocks out the back. I would go to a parts store and get some of the diamond plate polished aluminum mud flaps. They look good and there cheap.

I live in san diego and havent herd of that law. My friend has a 01 extended cab larait with a 6 inch lift, and 35's and I was with him when he got a speeding ticket on the 15 and the cop didnt say anything about him not having mud flaps and my truck came with rear mud flaps but the dealer put them in because it had the dealers name so i took the dealer plackard off and now their just plain black but I dont believe that is a law. What kind of lift/rims/tires do you have?? It looks great.

my truck didn't come with mud flaps. i'd think that they would require ford to follow the laws.

i don't think its a law that you need mudflaps. otherwise trucks would all come with them. mine did, but every 01 and 02 screw that i've seen doesn't have them. maybe if your lifted you need flaps, but not that it would do any good unless they are like 3 feet long
i do know its a law in jersey that your tires can't stick out past the fender wells. you must have fender flares if you run wider tires.

just what i know

I know in many states it is illegal to have tires that protrude out past the edge of the wheel wells. I have never seen anyone get a ticket for it.

I am a court service officer here in Washington State, it is against the law to have a tire exceed the fender. In most cases, it is not a problem with law enforcement, however it becomes a probable cause to pull you over for citation(s).

i know here in texas that you dont have to have mudflaps if you have single wheels in the back no matter how high you are. now duallys must have mud flaps. if you dont have them then you will get a ticket.

That sucks. I thought Japan was the only country to have a law that prevented you from having the tire stick too far out of the fenderwell. If it is illegal in the U.S. almost everyone in Alaska should be cited, and If that law is true in Cali. I think it is friggin BS.

same here in UT any altered vehicle must have mud flaps, no matter what! I just got a fix it ticket saturday for my clear corners, and my window tint,(7% with flames tinted in 50%)
but no bother with my 38 inch TSL's or 11 inches of lift??
which is a little dumb, you cannot miss it..well mud flaps are not a lot of $$ I put on some ford flaps for like $20 , good luck.

It all depends on the officer on whether or not they will give you a citation for no mud flaps. Your best bet is to go ahead and get the mud flaps put on , otherwise the cops are gonna have a good reason to harass you. Around here the local cops didnt give a crap about me not having mud flaps. But, DPS gave me tickets and pulled me over for it about 3 times. They told me if i didnt get the mud flaps put on right now then they were gonna take my truck away (yea right). i wasnt able to drive my truck for 2 weeks cause they were looking for me. Now, i am only 17 and they do seem to harass teenagers with lifts more than adults.
