BellTech lowered 4X4

I installed BellTech's lowering kit on my 2002 F-150 4X4. It's a 3/4 inch drop kit. However, I'd like the drop the front even lower and can with the adjustable torsion keys. However, when doing so, negative camber increases and I run out of upper A arm adjustment. Anyone drop a F-150 4X4 beyond the recommended 3 inches in front and if so, any solution to the camber issue? Anyone making, or willing to make longer upper A arms? Please let me know.

Thanks,

Ken

Well...I clicked on the "post reply" button to chastise you for *gulp* lowering a 4x4. But...after the reply page loaded, I thought to myself....what the heck, it's not my truck.

I must be mellowing out in my old age

Well I don't know it if will work on the 4x4's but you should check out the Western Chassis 2" lowered A arms.

I figured I take some crap about dropping a 4X4, but thought it would be worth it if my problem was solved:>} With respect to the Western Chassis dropped lower A arms, they won't work on the 4X4. No coil springs, just torsion bars. What I really need is to locate a shop which will custom fab a set of upper A arms or modify (lengthen) a set of factory arms. Anyone have a shop in mind? Please let me know.

Thanks,

Ken

Give Pat a call at Ballistic Motorsports in Mission Viejo, California. Their is also a person on Sportruck.com by the name of Darksyde that has lowered his 4x4 Expy down to the ground. You might post a message on that board as well and see if someone can give you some help.

The BellTech kit drops the front 3" and the rear 4". It was a bit of a job but well worth it.

I read that too and was confused why anyone would lower a 4x4?

I'd like to see a pic of your truck; I would like to lower my 98 Off Road but a 3/4 doesn't sound enough, either. As to those questions about why anyone would want to lower a 4x4, you either get it or you don't. I need 4WD for the winters here, but that shouldn't mean that my truck has to be top heavy. I love lifted trucks, but I need something different.

There are "before" and "after" pictures in my gallery. However, I don't believe BellTech's drop kit for F-150 4X4's will fit the "Off Road" suspension model. You might want to contact BellTech directly.

I did the Belltech lowering kit on my 2001 4x4 this weekend. The rear was really a pain to do even with air tools and lift.

Is there really a need for the drop shocks? Nothing in the lame instructions about requiring replacing the shocks.

Vehicle is used for winter driving and light hauling not off-roading

Glad to hear somebody else experienced my pain:>} While not required, the Nitro Drop shocks are recommended. They're specially valved for lowered trucks to quickly react to changing road conditions. They firm up the ride and reduce the factory "bounce". Drive it for awhile with the factory shocks and see what you think. I think you'll agree that the extra $150 for the four shocks are well worth it and compared to the job you just completed, installing the shocks are a walk in the park!
