2012 lift kit removal
I just bought a 2012 4x4 that has leveling kit under the front end and 20" 305/55/ 20 grappler tires and incubus crusher wheels. The truck looked great but the gas mileage sucked so I traded the wheels and tire for some
17" chrome ATX slots. Now it looks goofy with the smaller wheels and so much clearance. I took it to a shop and and they said they would remove the kit for $200. When I took it in they said I would have to have the stock spacers and said it would cost another 200 to get the parts without even taking the shock/spring loose. From looking at them it looks as though there are just lift spacers on top of the shock/spring assembly. My question is do I need to have these parts or just remove the leveling spacers and bolt the assembly back up?

Seems to all have been said so far. If its just the spacers and not leveling shocks, it should just be labor costs and alignment, no parts costs whatsoever. That being said, if you're mechanically inclined at all, its much easier to reverse a level than add it in the first place. You could save yourself $100 or so if you wanted to tackle the removal yourself.
Edit: They weren't referring to the rear block were they? Its still the stock block back there right and not a larger one to maintain rake with the front leveling kit? Because if that is a larger block, it will look pretty silly if you remove the front level spacer and you'd want to get a stock block for the rear.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I went by the Ford dealership Friday and looked under the front end of some of the new ones and what the guy at the shop said didn't make since. So I called up a buddy who has shop and we took the spacers out. whole job took about an hour and 20 minutes. Called up Midas Saturday morning to get it aligned. Guy said it would cost 79.99. They put it on the machine and the toe on left side was off a little , other than that everything was good. Charged me 29.99. So I'm giving a shout out to the guys at Midas for their service and at the same time, I wont be going back to Big O tires for nothing.
