2011 f150 level kit and tire size. Any help is great full
So. First off. I got a 2011 F150 XLT Super crew cab 4x4. i have been looking at leveling kits. Im leaning towards a 2.5'' kit but now the problem is tires. I have read that 35's will fit but require trimming and may require new gears. Will 33's require a new gear ratio? What brand of tires do yall recommend for mudding and road use? Trying to stay on the cheap side. Also, what brand leveling kit do yall recommend? i want the look of a bigger truck. Got any of a truck leveled with 33's?
Thanks guys!
Thanks guys!
a 2 inch leveling kit will be perfect on your truck. 2.5 is pushing it and 3 will wear out front end parts much faster. 35s will fit it just depends on what wheels youre using and how wide the tires are. low offset aftermarket wheels and wide tires will rub on the plastic below the bumper. stock wheels with wide tires may rub on the inside. what gear ratio do you have now? you have the 6 speed so that helps. tons of guys run 35s with no regear, it just puts more strain on the tranny and will make it feel sluggish. the cost of regearing with 33s is not worth it, and probably not either with 35s. as far as mud tire go with toyo mt. best on road mud tire as far as life and noise. but they arent cheap. you get what you pay for with tires though. cheap out and you will go through tires twice as fast and will spend all the money you saved buying new tires and having them remounted. as for pictures just search on here and on google. there are hundreds of threads
So. i assume thats gonna help with 35's? So with that gear ratio. If i ran a 2in level kit, would i be better with 33's or 35's. Can i run 35's on the stock wheels.

The power would be better with 33's (smaller tire, less strain). 3.73's would be a good ratio for 33's but wouldn't be as bad with 35's if say you had something like 3.55's.
You can run some 35's on the stock wheels, it'll depend how wide they are and what the tread pattern is though to determine whether they'll fit without rubbing.

Toyos, nittos, Goodyear, bfg, etc. stick with name brand tires and you'll be alright.
And again it depends on width and tread pattern whether they'll fit, but most 33x12.50's will fit okay.
I'm not sure how bad it'll be with 33's versus 35's, but it won't be that much worse.

One other thing to consider is how YOU use YOUR truck. If you do a lot of really heavy towing/hauling you will be better off with a 33 inch tall tire. If you don't, you can run 35's without issue. As for tires, do you want an all terrain or mud terrain tire? What size wheels do you have?

I'm shocked at the price of all mud tires honestly, and with some sizes. My 275/60/20's (33.0) were $210 a piece. 275/65/20 (34.1) and 305/40/20's (little under 33" but wider) were about $350 a piece. I really wanted 34's, but 1 inch ain't worth $600! I don't know what determines the pricing on some sizes
My Dads car cost $350 for all new tires. Thats the price of one 35in tire. Its absurd the markup price. What leveling kit brand do yall like. Iv seen Hell Bent Steel, Daystar, Pro Comp. Are they ok? Some only come in 2.5in kits. Will the nose sit too high with a 2.5in kit?
