Skyjacker leaf springs?
Skyjacker leaf springs?
I have been looking at adding a tad more lift to the rear of my truck and have been thinking that instead of putting an AAL on to my old worn out springs that I should replace the whole spring packs themselves (Never been a big fan of the 3 leafs). Yes deavers are cool, but costly and whenever I do haul stuff it's usually very heavy loads. I came across the 5" skyjacker springs and they seem to be the perfect height. Does anyone have any input or feedback on these?

The only down side I can see is, your ride definitely won't be better due to the U curvature of the springs vs. flat of what you have now but I can't say i'd do differently than what you are planning if my springs were worn out. Getting rid of the blocks is a HUGE plus.
Have you called Deaver, Alcan, etc. to see what price they are asking for a custom set?

I haven't called to see about a custom set, but I don't want to spend a whole lot more than what these skyjackers are costing.
find a 7700/ or light duty f250 and pull the spring packs out of them... payload+a little lift. i keep playing with the idea of that for mine, but i cant get ahold of the knuckle head that id swap leaf packs with...
What do you mean by the ride won't be better? Will it be softer or stiffer? As of right now my rear is as stiff as a board, but this could also be due to how old the springs are. I'm tired of going over large bumps and train tracks and having the rear end hop around like crazy while the front glides right over. I also think it's what's been causing my odd tire wear.

Whats easier to bend down, a flat piece of metal or a u shape (more lift = more U). I'm not necessarily saying they will ride worse but keep in mind it's a possibility if they aren't built with that in mind. After all 5" lift springs isn't extreme by any means
I have no experience with the skyjackers so they could be smooth, but I imagine finding more than 1 or 2 people to give you a review on them could be hard.
At least give alcan and deaver a call to see where they are at on price before you order up a set.

I get what you're saying. Yes, the bushings are probably shot with 200k+ on them. I'm just throwing around some ideas here because eventually I'd like to get rid of the blocks all together. It's only a 3" but I imagine I would get some wrap by switching up to a 5".
I haven't been able to find any type of reviews for these springs for our truck, but I would think that since they are called "softride" they would have a smoother ride but we all know how that goes sometimes. haha

also dont forget you loose some payload with lift packs... i dont know how much you haul/tow but its a thing you need to think about...

I run a set of BDS 6" Lift rear springs on my truck. The axle wrap I had with the block set-up was too much, so I bit the bullet and swapped them in. They are stiffer than the stockers I took out, but the truck had 200k on it,too. Now, the axle wrap is gone, and the ride ain't so bad, and the truck is bigger. Looks like a win to me.
Minus the cost,of course.
