2011 lowering help??
2011 lowering help??
My 2011 sCrew sits only 1" higher in the rear than in the front and I like it with the 1" rake but I want to lower the whole truck 2-3 inches. Most kits I have found were like a 2-4 or 3-5. I do not want to end up with the rear end lower than the front but I am afraid If i go with one of the two standard kits this will happen.
What do you guys think about using the 2" drop shackles for the rear and the DJM 2" Lower control arms on the front? I am thinging I want to try something like this and if I dont like It the only money I have wasted is how much I spent on the rear shackles. Plus if I end up pulling them and going with the rear flip kit I can resale them and not loose all of that money.
I am running 305/45r22's on factory limited wheels, will I have any clearance issues in the front with the 2" LCA?
What are my other options?
here is a link to the LCA

here is a the truck with the stock size tires on the wheels.

The smart solution would be Ground Force shackles in the rear (because they include a pinion shim), and Belltech struts up front. The struts will allow you to adjust the height to suit your taste. That's the setup I settled on after playing with a few options on my truck. I maintained the 2" of rake so the steering would feel tight, and the truck won't squat when trying to use it as a truck.
Also, the rake should be closer to 2" with the truck unloaded and on level ground. Judging by your pic, it looks like a 2" rake to me.

thanks for the info, i just found the struts http://www.belltech-store.com/shock-absorber-166.html
I have measured from center of hub to fender, from the ground to the fender and from the top of the tire to the fender and every way I come up with 1 1/4" higher in the back.
Did your truck have a spacers between the spring and axle? Mine does not???

Only the 4WD trucks have a lift block on the rear axle. If you order the Belltech shackles, you'll want to buy a pinion angle shim too. The Ground Force shackles cost a little more, but when you factor in the pinion shim, they're cheaper. Plus the Ground Force shackles use urethane bushings. Some people claim that you don't need the shims, but installing shackles changes the pinion angle, which can cause driveline vibrations. Not only are the vibrations extremely annoying, but they can damage your U-Joints and pinion bearings. It's worth the few bucks to do it right the first time.
And to clarify on the post from TSS you quoted, the shackle will only lower you 2" in the rear. It's 3" if you have a 4WD because that includes removing the lift block. There is no 3" drop shackle for the 2004+ F-150 because there isn't enough room for one.
It would still be about $300 for the set. If you poke around on Google, you can find the best price on what you're looking for. Or see if TSS still stocks Ground Force. I strongly recommend using their shackles.

Belltech's Lowering Strut is always the best method for a simple 2" drop. For the rear I can get you Belltech shackles and toss in the shims free of charge. But the EsJayEs is correct 3" can only be achieve with 4WD models.
I only have 2" or 5.5" rear drops available.

on the 5.5 rear drop, I understand it is a flip kit but what else is involved in the rear kit?
Do you gain 3.5" by flipping and then use a 2" shackle to get the total to 5.5" Or does the flip give you 5.5?
The reason I ask is if the 2" does not get the back low enough i didnt know if i could use the axle flip kit and stock hangers to only make it a 3.5"?

The ideal solution is lowering leaf springs, but only Ground Force makes them for the 2009+ F-150 and they're rediculously expensive. About $1,000 for their 2/3.5 drop kit. They refuse to sell the leafs alone.
