AAL is around $100-$150. Install isn't hard, but it is dangerous if you aren't careful (alot of energy stored in springs). Took me about 2 1/2 hours the first time i did a set. Pretty much basic tools to do it. Was quoted around $150 for install IIRC, it's been about 4-5 years since i did mine on my f150.

Will it be significantly rougher or just slightly? I guess I will go with the aal because I tow my boat a lot and there is a trailer hooked up to my truck at least 4 times a week so I'm guessing the aal would work better for my needs

With a trailer hooked up it will ride great, unloaded will be rougher. A longer AAL will ride better than a short AAL.

The other options are air bags which would also be a good route so ride quality wont change when unloaded

What brand/model would you recommend for the longer aal?
And how much would air bags set me back?

Air bags, i'm not sure. I haven't researched it enough to give a price. Wont be doing mine for a while. But a few hundred is what i've seen. search the forum, there have been a few good threads on the subject.

The only AAL i have run is a BDS, it rode alright. I like how it tightened up how the truck felt, but the rear end didn't cycle thru the suspension on the road as much as i had liked when unloaded.

procomp long AAL. Thats what i put on my 06. worked like a charm and the ride to me was an improvement. my truck felt kina mushy in the rear before i did this.
Save a little longer and do a suspension. The install is time consuming as is most anything, but anyone with a little mechanical skills can accomplish it. I did my 2010 a while back, it was scary, but am very happy i did it myself.

When you say it didn't cycle through the suspension what do you mean by that?

hit a bump on the road and it just jolted, i'm talking about huge pot holes and bad roads not minor road issues tho.

Off road it would tuck my 35 completely into the fender fine. Just some road manners got worse, majority of them got better tho.

check 4 wheel parts for prices. Yes they give you size, most seem to be around 1.5-2" but they make up to a 4" AAL IIRC.

I think the one i bought was around 120 bucks...im not a hundred percent sure on that. I just found what part number i needed off procomp website and started searching ebay and other 4x4 websites and found the lowest price with shipping at the time.
